Perfect Popcorn
How I make myself a serving of popcorn.
- measure 50g of kernels
- take a 2–3L pot/saucepan with a lid
- cover the bottom with a thin layer of oil, about 2tbsp
- when kernels aren’t popping fully, it may be due to having too little oil
- pour the kernels in and give them a shake to cover them with oil
- put on high heat (8/12 on my stove), give it a shake from time to time
- once popping slows, move the pot off the heat and let it sit for a little while in case some kernels still wish to pop
- dump the popcorn into a bowl
- toss some butter in the hot pot and let it melt with the residual heat
- pour the butter over the popcorn and salt to taste
- optionally add a bit of grated parmesan
